Pregnant Davina Rankin reveals how severe her morning sickness was

Davina Rankin has shared more details about her first pregnancy and her journey to becoming a mother.

The former Married At First Sight bride, who appeared in the 2018 season and was matched with Ryan Gallagher, shared a 17-minute video on YouTube titled 'WE ARE HAVING A BABY!!' in which she revealed how she and boyfriend Jaxon Manuel found out they were expecting and just how severe her morning sickness was during the first trimester.

The 28-year-old said she started feeling ill a few months ago, but funnily enough didn't think to do a pregnancy test right away. She had a few checkups "and everything came back fine".

In the week leading up to her joint birthday celebrations with Jaxon, Davina found herself "really sick" again. "I was waiting till the very last minute to go and get a massage — I just couldn't peel myself out of bed — and I was like, 'This just doesn't feel right, I don't feel right, something's up'," she explained. "I had one pregnancy test at home, and I did it, and like bam, straight away, it was like, you're pregnant — which never happens, because I'm so used to peeing on sticks and then it just takes forever to get to the second line and it's like, not pregnant."

Davina first called her mum to share the news, and her mum then bought more pregnancy kits just to be sure. Davina of course told Jaxon, and later that day they did the requisite blood tests that confirmed they were going to be parents.

The following week they held their joint birthday party, where Davina said she pretended to drink as to not arouse suspicion. But there were a few friends who noticed "because it was getting to the end of the night and I was like helping clean up, instead of dancing on the tables — which is what I'd usually be doing". The couple ended up breaking the news to some of their closest friends.

Then, shortly after the party, Davina and Jaxon went to the Philippines for a holiday. "By this stage, I was like throwing up at least five times a day," said Davina.

She took special medication Jaxon's sister gave her on "travel days", which "were just the worst days. Having to travel for like three or four hours on a boat, or on a plane... it was the worst."

While Jax was still keen to do outdoorsy things, Davina would have to "tap him on the shoulder, and he'd pull the scooter over and I'd throw up".

Thankfully Davina's morning sickness has subsided in her second trimester. The couple don't know the sex of their baby but will find out at a baby reveal party with their loved ones.

In the video Davina said she always wanted a boy first. "But I just feel like it's a little girl — like I already have a name for her, and I'm calling it a her," she said. At the same time, there was one visit to her sonographer — who happens to be Jaxon's sister — that made her think she could be having a boy, based on the reaction.
