‘Don’t want to flog a dead horse’: Aussie hit comedy to end, stars announce in new video
Married actors Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer have made an announcement about the future of their hit comedy, Colin from Accounts.
The Australian sitcom’s earned them three Logie Awards and an AACTA Award locally, plus they’ve scored two Gotham TV Awards in the US and a BAFTA TV nomination in the UK.

But now, as they launch season three, the stars of the series have announced this new season will also be the last.
“Guys we have a little announcement,” they said in a new video posted to social media, sitting together on a purple sofa.
“Firstly, we want to say that series three is coming at you! We really hope you enjoy it. We also need to add that this is our last season.”
The video is spliced in with reactions from the show, with the real-life couple going on to explain their decision.

“Understandably, you’re upset,” they said.
“Creatively, it just feels like the right time for these characters and for this world. We don’t want to flog a dead horse, comedy comes in threes.
“We are sorry if you are disappointed. We are going to miss it terribly. We love making TV for you guys and we just want to say bye, we’ll see you around.”
Fans were devastated, asking them to “N O please flog the dead horse!” as multiple viewers began petitioning for a British-TV-style Christmas special.
“Sorry, but we are going to need just one Christmas special guys to finish it all off,” one person commented under the announcement.
Another noted: “Nooooooo - if it’s about the dog you can use mine . He’s a border terrier. He looks like Collin.”

“Guys…you just ruined my day,” a third wrote, while a fourth said they were “happy sad” at the news.
Dyer, best known for her role in Aussie drama Love Child, met Brammall on the set of Aussie comedy No Activity in 2015.
Dyer followed the Offspring star to the US in 2017 and the couple got married five days after getting engaged while on holiday in Florida, in March 2021.

Later that year, in September, on International Daughter’s Day they announced they’d adopted a little girl, named Joni.
In February 2025, they welcomed a second daughter, Mabel, via adoption, with Brammall unable to have children of his own due to a health condition as a kid.
The pair created Colin from Accounts during COVID-19 lockdowns, filming the first season of the show under strict conditions in 2021.

The actors might be calling time on the comedy series they’re keeping very busy – beyond their family life as parents-of-two.

Dyer has been seen in TV series DMV while working on the final season of Colin from Accounts, which premieres on July 27.
