Coleen Rooney considered separating from Wayne as marriage laid bare in new series

Coleen and Wayne Rooney’s family life has been put on display like never before in their new docu-series and at one point, she even considered leaving him. 

The Real Rooneys series gives an intimate look inside their life and at one point she admits she considered “separating” from her “careless” husband after some heated rows during filming. 

The couple, both aged 40, share four boys, Kai, 16, Klay, 13, Kit, 10, and Cass, eight, who feature heavily in the fly-on-the-wall show about their life on Disney+, which was filmed last year. 

From the outside, they appear to be a happy family, but it’s quickly revealed that it’s not always the case. 

“There are times when I think the answer to everything is to see what it's like if we are separated,” Coleen candidly said in an interview with the camera after a clash with Wayne on holiday. 

Wayne, a former England footballing great, and Coleen, who has appeared on I’m A Celebrity along with the publicity that surrounded her in the ‘Wagatha Christie’ scandal, haven’t shied away from sharing the reality of their marriage during the show.

“We haven’t spoke for four days, this is the first time we’ve talked,” Wayne told the cameras at one point as they sat down on the couch together to film.” 

Coleen replied, “I’m hoping a break will help us to reconnect. A really nice weekend away for us to have some time together. That’s if I don’t kill him first.”

But it seems like the weekend away to reconnect was just wishful thinking. 

The trip to Scotland reportedly turned to a nightmare when Wayne opted to spend the morning golfing with mates and left her to wait for a few hours. 

Chaos is a clear theme in the family, judging by the trailer with plenty of clips of the boys wrestling, boxing and pushing both of their parents to the limit. 

The show will no doubt give a look into their family life like no other, from Coleen’s return to work to Wayne juggling life as a dad away from professional sport. 

“No one knows the real Rooneys, this is the side of us we’ve never showed before,” Coleen said at one point of the official show trailer. 

The 10-part docu-series will drop on September 24 on Disney+, following their life in their new super mansion in Cheshire in the UK. 

Coleen explained that during filming, they threw everything at it and really “committed” to the experience. 

“Obviously it’s reality show, so we want to show the good moments and the bad moments. It wasn’t planned, especially with kids, things can happen!” she told the Daily Mail. 

“We didn't want to sign up for it and, and say right, 'we'll film this but not film that,' you can't pick the moments that you like the best.” 

She explained that the only filming exceptions were around their children, who could decide when they didn’t want to be on camera.

Football’s new home, Stan Sport, is the only place to watch the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, WSL, J.League, NWSL and K League.
