Coldplay's Chris Martin helped a fan propose to his partner mid-show during the famous jumbotron segment.

But not before he performed some "security checks" as a cheeky reference to the viral kiss cam scandal involving former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron that went down last month.

Martin addressed a fan who stood in the audience holding a sign stating that he wanted to propose to his partner who stood in front of him.

"OK, no listen, my brother, I need you to nod as I do some basic security checks, OK?" the band's frontman said in a moment captured in a TikTok video.

The audience laughed as he continued.

"Is this person your partner?" he asked as the fan nodded.

"No one else's partner?" Martin continued in reference to last month's kiss cam scandal.

The fan nodded again.

He then continued his checks asking, "Are you cousins or siblings or anything weird like that?"

"OK, then I think we can continue," Martin added once the fan confirmed.

Martin then proceeded to serenade the fan with a series of instructions as he helped him propose to his partner who laughed along with excitement.

"Well listen my beautiful brother, here is some advice for free," he began to sing.

"As we all look on, let's see you go down, I advise you to get down on one knee."

The fan then turned to his partner and dropped down on one knee per Martin's suggestion as the crowd burst into cheers and applause.

He then popped the question to his girlfriend who gave him an emphatic 'yes' and a big kiss as the crowd continued to cheer.

As he put the ring on her hand, Martin sang, "Congratulations my brother and sister, what a beautiful girl, what a wonderful guy."

"On a day like this, I encourage you to kiss, I hope that you're happy til the day that you die," he concluded.

The moment, and Martin's careful line of questioning, comes after the kiss cam segment at one of Coldplay's Boston shows earlier this year spiralled into a viral phenomenon.

During the show a man and a woman, later identified online as Byron and Astonomer's HR executive Kristin Cabot, appeared on the jumbotron wrapped in each others arms.

But as soon as they realised, they quickly separated and attempted to hide from view.

"Uh oh, what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy," frontman Chris Martin joked to the audience.

The clip broke the internet.

Since the scandal both Byron and Cabot have resigned from their positions at the data company.

Despite the viral moment, Martin has revealed that the band have no intention of stopping the now-controversial kiss cam segment.
