Chris Hemsworth's wife Elsa Pataky admits being married is 'not at all easy' as they prepare to mark 12th wedding anniversary

Actress Elsa Pataky is keeping it real in a new interview in which she admitted that being married is "not at all easy".

In a candid chat with Hello! magazine, the Fast & Furious alum said, like others, she experiences difficulties in her marriage to Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth.

"It's not at all easy," she told the magazine. "No relationship is always a bed of roses and all marriages are built bit by bit, out of good moments, wonderful moments and also more difficult ones."

The 45-year-old – who walked the red carpet with Hemsworth last night for the Sydney premiere of his new movie, Interceptor – shares three children with the Thor star: 10-year-old daughter India and eight-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan.

And she credits her family for teaching her to be more patient.

"My children have taught me patience – before they came along I had none," she said, adding that she sometimes felt "overwhelmed" being a mum to three young children. 

Hemsworth, 38, has also previously opened up about their marriage to New! magazine back in 2020.

"There are challenges and you have to work hard — a good marriage doesn't just happen," Hemsworth told the publication. "I've been so fortunate to have had the career I've had so far, but my biggest achievement is, without doubt, my family.

"My family and closest friends are some of the kindest and compassionate people I know, but my absolute greatest achievement is, of course, my children."

Later this year, the couple will mark 12 years of marriage. They tied the knot in December 2010, just three months after being introduced by talent agent William Ward.

According to Hemsworth, getting married within months of dating just felt right. 

"There was no great plan to any of it, to be honest," he told Good Morning Britain in 2016. "We were on holiday and we said, 'Why don't we get married too?'"

"There probably should have been some planning but it all worked out," he added. "Honestly, we had both our families on holiday at the same time, just randomly, and we said this is a good opportunity with everyone together so we just did it."
