Chloe Lattanzi is missing her mum, Olivia Newton-John, this Mother's Day.

The singer and actress says she and Newton-John, 71, plan to spend the day celebrating from a distance via video chat while laughing and playing with their dogs.

"I cannot wait until I can hold her in my arms and squeeze her," US-based Lattanzi tells 9Honey Celebrity, acknowledging the social distancing requirements due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "This is a very hard time right now and I hope everyone gets to spend time with the ones they love and appreciate this Mother's Day."

The pair are very close. At 34, Lattanzi is two years younger than Newton-John was when she and her then-husband, American actor and dancer Matt Lattanzi, fell pregnant in 1985.

"My mom means so many things to me. She means absolute understanding and true warmth," the former Dancing With The Stars Australia contestant says. "As I get older, the well grows deeper. The older you get, the more you come to appreciate your parents. I love learning more and more about her and how similar we are."

Newton-John is currently fighting stage four breast cancer, following her third diagnosis of the illness in 2017. The legendary entertainer continues to devote her time to raising money for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre.

Lattazni's admiration for her mum is never-ending.

"My mom gives me strength and a genuine gratitude just to be alive. She is truly my female role model. Not many people are lucky to say that," says Lattanzi. "I'm sending Australia and the world all my motherly love. Happy Mother's Day, mama."
