Carrie Bickmore is getting honest about the less glamorous side of Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival season, revealing she is suffering from pink eye.

On the eve of Melbourne Cup Day, the TV and radio star, 45, took to Instagram to share a close up video of her red and irritated eye while she deals with the condition known as conjuctivitis.

Bickmore made light of the situation poking fun at her low-key appearance compared to her much more refined look at Saturday’s Derby Day at Flemington Racecourse.

“Just for balance after all the glamorous race pics ... this is me with pink eye tonight,” she captioned the self-deprecating video.

Bickmore’s video comes just days after she led the celebrations at the luxe G.H. Mumm marquee on Saturday’s Derby Day.

The radio icon wowed attendees with the iconic ‘Tap Tap’ moment and ended up showered in champagne in the process.

Dressed in an off-white frock, matching hair bow, gold accessories and slim sunglasses, she managed to duck out of the main splash zone just in time.

The Aussie was all smiles despite some emotional news as of late.

On October 20, Bickmore and her radio partner Tommy Little announced their show on the Hit Network will wrap up at the end of the year, marking another casualty in Australia’s troubled radio industry.

“After nearly 10 years of doing this amazing show, the Carrie and Tommy show is coming to an end,” she announced on the show.

“I've loved every minute of doing the show.

“It’s not every day you get to come and have a laugh and call it your job with your best mate and the funniest guy in the country, and that’s what we’ve got to do for the last decade.”

Two days later, she and Little poked fun at the network’s seemingly AI-generated press release about their exit.

The first error all agreed was simply "just a bit of a typo" when they spoke about Carrie's Beanies for Brain Cancer fundraising initiative as Brian cancer.

“I should point out I try to raise money for brain cancer, not just Brian’s cancers, I don’t specially focus on Brian’s, I like to focus broader than that,” Bickmore said.

They then looked down the list of their achievements that included a number of things they’d never actually done, like an “icy Tassie lake plunge” and a “legendary bus tour”.

The pair will depart the Hit Network radio show in December.

Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little accused Hit Network staff of using ChatGPT to create milestones the show never had in the formal announcement of the end of their show. @carrietommyshow

“I thought, ‘how did they get this information?’ I thought, ‘I know, let’s get ChatGPT and let’s type in what are Carrie and Tommy known for?’” Little said,

“And that’s where it mentions – and they spell brain cancer right – the campaign and ‘braving an icy Tasmanian lake plunge’. Surprise trips to Paris – yes, we did that. Caravan adventures – yes, we did that – around Queensland, ‘and their popular mystery bus tours’.”

There is a chance the information appearing in Little’s ChatGPT search came from the press release itself, as opposed to the other way around.
