Celebrities send love to Bruce Willis as star steps down from Hollywood

Celebrities are offering their thoughts and prayers for Bruce Willis after the star's family announced he would be stepping down from acting following a serious medical diagnosis.

Willis' family shared a joint statement on social media that revealed the Die Hard actor had been diagnosed with aphasia — a language disorder that can be caused by stroke or brain damage and affects a person's ability to communicate.

The statement was co-signed by Willis' wife, Emma Heming, ex-wife Demi Moore and five children, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel and Evelyn.

Amid the news, celebrities from across Hollywood have sent their love and well wishes to the star on social media.

Underneath Moore's post to Instagram, Jamie Lee Curtis shared a sweet message, writing, "Grace and guts! Love to you all!"

Supermodel Cindy Crawford also shared a small token, commenting a praying hands emoji under Moore's post.

Sleepless in Seattle actress Rita Wilson posted: "My heart goes out to Bruce, and all of the family. So thankful you shared this with us. Keeping you all in our prayers."

Meanwhile, Family Guy's Seth Green took to Twitter to share his thoughts.

"I have so much love for Bruce Willis, and am grateful for every character he's given us," he wrote. "Hugs and love for the whole family- thank you for sharing him with us all."

The news also brought comments from the Pretty Little Liars cast; Willis' daughter, Rumer, 33, starred in the show.

Actress Ashley Benson shared a number of love hearts and praying hand emojis under Rumer's post.

Writer of the series, I. Marlene King commented under Moore's post: "Sending love and light to Bruce, you and the family."

Within their shared statement, the family said it was a "really challenging time" and thanked Willis' fans for their support.

"This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support.

"We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him," they wrote.

"As Bruce always says, 'Live it up' and together we plan to do just that."
