Brooklyn Beckham's explosive statement revealed a lot of things that blew the feud with his family wide open.

But claims that Victoria Beckham 'hijacked' his first dance with now wife Nicola Peltz at their 2022 wedding don't quite align with previous comments the couple made to US Vogue, who covered their big day.

The publication went into detail about their lavish nuptials at the time and revealed the couple had their first dance, before a traditional mother and son and father and daughter dance.

According to Vogue, Brooklyn and Nicola shared their first dance to South African singer Lloyiso's rendition of Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love.

Then, Marc Anthony – who is a close friend of David and Victoria – took to the stage much later in the evening during the reception to perform his track I Need To Know.

It was at this point "Brooklyn invited his mother on stage for a dance and they were joined by David and their 10-year-old daughter, Harper."

The claim that Brooklyn "invited" his mum to dance doesn't fit with what he wrote in his statement.

"Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead," the aspiring chef wrote in his damning statement.

He also claimed that she "hijacked" his first dance with Nicola, although even his wife has previously spoken about their romantic first dance in a post on social media.

But one guest who was at the wedding has shed some new light on the situation, and seems to be painting a similar story to Brooklyn.

Stavros Agapiou, the partner of top British DJ Fat Tony - who was asked to perform at the reception - weighed in in a now deleted Instagram comment.

"I was there and she did, he's telling the truth," he wrote in the now deleted comment.

He has also posted, "Good on him for finally speaking out!"

Now, the moment that Agapiou could be talking about has previously made headlines, but it wasn't the first dance between Brooklyn and Nicola.

In May 2025 People claimed that Victoria made her daughter-in-law cry during the wedding over a moment on the dance floor, but it was when Anthony hit the stage.

"Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding," a source told the publication.

"Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, 'The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up… Victoria Beckham!'"

A second source said the whole room was so shocked that Anthony called Victoria's name over Nicola's and that everyone was silent in the moment.

"It was such a jaw-dropping moment that it left the whole room in absolute shock – you could hear a pin drop," they added.

Nicola reportedly ran from the room crying, with one of the sources adding the dance "wasn't appropriate".

While no one who was at the wedding has weighed in on the dance moves, in Brooklyn's scathing statement he claimed "she danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone".

"I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment."

Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their wedding vows in August 2025 and neither his parents, or his siblings, were invited.
