Before Gwen Stefani became a solo artist, she got her start as a teen in the '80s group No Doubt.

It was during this era that she met and began a relationship with the band's bassist, Tony Kanal.

"Tony was my first real boyfriend and I was tragically obsessed with him," she told Variety in 2021.

The bandmates dated for seven years. But their relationship came to an end in 1994.

Their relationship and split went on to inspire one of the band's biggest hits, Don't Speak.

"I think when Gwen and I were breaking up, the lyrics then became just about our break up," Kanal told Complex of how the song became the version we now know today.

"It was a very, very intense period of our lives, and it was all put out there to share with everybody."

Stefani then went on to have a solo music career after the group went on an indefinite hiatus in 2004.

In 1974, the duo's lives changed when they joined Fleetwood Mac, a band that would leave its mark on music forever.

At this point, Nicks and Buckingham's relationship was tumultuous at best.

Their romance came to an end in 1976.

A year later, the group's groundbreaking album Rumours came out, which included songs such as Go Your Own Way and Dreams, that delved into the couple's relationship breakdown.

While Nicks has not married or had children, Buckingham married Kristen Messner in 2000.

He shares three children with Messner.

Nicks once said, "who Lindsey and I are to each other will never change.

"It's over. It doesn't mean the great feeling isn't there," she explained. "It means that the love is always there, but we'll never be together, so that's even more romantic."

Hayley Williams (middle) and Taylor York (left) are the blueprint for friends to lovers.

In 2004, Williams was one of the founding members and frontwoman of the rock band Paramore.

A few years into the band's run, York joined the group as their new touring guitarist in 2007.

Williams at the time was in a relationship with another musician, Chad Gilbert, who she went on to marry in 2016 and then split from a year later.

After meeting as teens in the noughties, and then years of touring and making music together, Williams and York delighted fans in September 2022 with news they were dating.

The bandmates confirmed their romance in an interview with The Guardian.

A couple of years after going public with their relationship, Williams revealed how her romance with York had helped her reclaim one of the band's 2009 love songs she used to feel uncomfortable performing.

In 2024, Paramore joined Taylor Swift as a support act on The Eras Tour.

In 2009, the band came out with the love ballad The Only Exception, which Williams wrote as a teen and is believed to be about her relationship at the time with Gilbert.

Speaking to Dork, Williams revealed a piece of advice she received from her vocal coach to no longer feel uncomfortable singing the song.

"He said, 'You're in a band with your partner. Just look at him and pretend nothing else ever existed'," she recalled being told.

"I felt so stupid doing that at first. I felt stupid having this pure expression of adoration and tapping into the hopefulness I had as a 19-year-old.

"This tour completely changed my relationship with that song though. Now when I sing it, I feel happy."

Bruce Springsteen not only started a relationship with one his The E Street Band stars, but he went on to marry her.

Patti Scialfa grew up around the same area as Springsteen, but the pair first officially met in the early '80s at a bar.

"It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. We had a beer together, sat at a table, and talked," Scialfa once said, via People.

"After that, I would go down every Sunday and sing, and sometimes he would be there. He knew I lived in New York and that I didn't have a car, so he would offer to drop me off at my mum's."

Their friendship turned professional when Springsteen asked Scialfa in 1984 to join his band, The E Street Band, on tour.

She returned with the band in 1988.
