Aussie singer Sia settles custody battle over son Somersault with estranged husband Dan Bernad

Aussie songstress Sia has been granted primary custody of her two-year-old son amid ongoing divorce proceedings with her estranged husband, Dan Bernad.
A US court has granted the Aussie singer primary physical custody of her son Somersault, based on a previous agreement between her and Bernad.

According to reports by multiple US outlets, Bernad will maintain shared legal custody and visitation rights.
Just last year, Sia was ordered to pay her estranged husband Bernad $US40,000 ($61,000) a month in child support.
After news of the settlement broke, Sia took to X with a brutal four-word statement.
“Good dads get jobs,” read the post on X, which seemingly was aimed at her ex.
In another post on X, she addressed the settlement and the “horrific” year she had endured.
“I’m a sober working mom trying to buy peace. I have primary custody of our son and since I am the only parent earning income I still have to pay California’s incredibly high child support,” read the post.
“This has been a horrific year. But it taught me how to navigate incredibly difficult situations, prioritise my family and not absorb other people’s negativity.”
She ended the post with a quote from Alexander Pope's 1771 poem An Essay on Criticism: "To err is human, to forgive is divine."

Sia, whose full name is Sia Furler, filed for divorce from Bernad in March 2025.
The former couple welcomed their son in March 2024, two years after tying the knot.
Sia’s child support payments per the new agreement began on April 1, and will continue until Somersault turns 18.
The Chandelier singer is also responsible for paying for her son’s private school tuition, extracurricular activities and health insurance.
The documents state the financial support will end under certain circumstances, including death, marriage, emancipation or another court order.
If the payments remain ongoing until her child turns 18, Sia would have forked out a whopping $13 million.
The singer’s net worth is an estimated $US35 million ($50 million).
