Amanda Bynes returns to Instagram with a drastic new look

Amanda Bynes has returned to Instagram after a months-long hiatus from the platform.

The actress has completely wiped her social media profile, with nothing on her Instagram page except this new photo. She's also changed her handle to "@matteblackstore".

The new photo shows Bynes with much darker hair than she had earlier this year.

She didn't share a caption or any more information, but she looks happy in ripped jeans and a yellow checked shirt. Bynes disabled commenting on the post.

While it's unclear why her new handle is "Matte Black Store", Bynes did mention earlier this year that she dreamt of opening an online store.

"Update: Getting my Bachelor's degree from FIDM. Taking online classes, trying to get a 4.0 GPA :]," she wrote via Instagram in May. "Looking forward to starting my online store in the future #goals."

She added that she'd been going through therapy after a stint in an in-patient treatment centre. "Spent the last two months in treatment. Worked on coping skills to help with my social anxiety that caused me to drop out of school months ago."

In March, Bynes announced she was engaged to her boyfriend of just a few months, Paul Michael, whom she met in an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Just three weeks later, Michael revealed that they had split up. But in May, Bynes shared on her Instagram that they were still engaged.

Michael shared a photo to his Instagram in August of his hand – wearing a wedding band – holding a woman's hand wearing an engagement ring. This sparked rumours that thee pair had secretly married, but a rep for Bynes quickly shut that down: "Amanda is not married," her attorney told Us.

Michael's Instagram bio reads: "Engaged to my love."

He's also uploaded some photos of the couple together in the last few weeks, confirming that they're still together.
