Andy Lee issues apology over latest career move in live TV interview: 'Broke our hearts'

Andy Lee has an apology to make.

The Hundred host and long-time Channel 9 personality has a huge new project, Do Not Watch This Show, a TV adaptation of his children's book Do Not Open This Book.

While it was very exciting news, Andy did have to grovel a little while promoting the series on Today.

"We're working with the ABC on this one. It's the first time that I've moved away from Channel 9 and I apologise to anyone upstairs that's watching this right now," Andy told hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo.

"You broke our hearts," Sarah bantered with Andy.

Despite the network banter, it was clear Andy had put plenty of thought into his Today appearance... Or at least his fiancée Rebecca Harding did.

"I love your jumper by the way," Karl complimented Andy's white top featuring a bright orange tiger.

"Bec bought me this for this appearance," he replied.

"She said 'I hear you're going on the Today Show and you needed a more kid, fun-friendly jumper. She's a keeper!"

Andy said turning his book series into a TV show was the "natural next step".

"It's been so much fun to make," he said.

Andy Lee's many career ventures

Do Not Watch This Show is far from Andy's only venture lately, coming after the comedian opened an Aussie-themed pub in the heart of New York City in March 2025.

Along with three of his best mates, he also launched his own premium dim sim range perfectly named Dimmies and Tinnies in April.

This was all while hosting Season 8 of The Hundred, which aired its season finale in May, and working on his and Bec's Melbourne renovations.

Andy and Bec are currently renovating Ravenswood, a beautiful 1876 Melbourne River property they purchased in November 2023.
