Monday's episode of Parental Guidance was all about body image – but it was another issue completely that had expert Dr Justin Coulson step in over a 'concerning' revelation.

During the episode, one of the challenges required the kids to give their parents five compliments each.

When it came to watching the 'Life School' kids, whose parents Josh and Cassie home schooled them while the family travelled around Australia in their caravan, the vibe of room shifted.

While their five sons had no problem coming up with positives about their mum and dad, problems arose when it came to putting those thoughts down on paper.

After stepping away for a private conversation, Josh and Cassie said they have struggled with "an extremely resistant child to sitting down, reading and writing".

Josh was emotional as he shared his fears of forcing his son to do something he really did not want to do.

Dr Justin said there was "an irony" in the parents trying to protect their son from something that made him feel bad about himself creating "an even bigger problem".

He told Josh and Cassie that additional support was available and shared a handful of tips to help, including embracing an odd acronym: FART time.

That is, 'family all reading together'.

The Life School Parents were very invested in putting the advice into motion.

"This is a life experience that we will learn from and grow from and implement, and get the support that we do need," Cassie said.
