A Victorian man aged in his 30s has died after falling "from height" at Federation Peak in Tasmania's Southwest National Park, police said.

Two of the man's bushwalking companions raised the alarm after he fell at about 11am yesterday.

Rescuers conducted ground and aerial searches yesterday afternoon but were unable to find the walking party.

The Westpac Police Rescue Helicopter and ground crews resumed the search this morning and located the man at about 9am, when he was confirmed dead.

The man's body was retrieved by the helicopter and two other walkers were also airlifted out.

The death comes just days after another bushwalker died in the same national park.

In an unrelated incident, a 54-year-old man was found dead in the popular trail walking area on Sunday.

Police said the man had been bushwalking alone, with another bushwalker locating the man unresponsive before activating a Personal Locator Beacon.
