About 100 teens in costume were forced out onto Leith Place as police broke up the party after being called to a disturbance about 9.45pm.
They were confronted with fights and drunk and disorderly behaviour.
“[There were a] lot of police really quickly, like really responsive,” neighbour Andy Cook said.
“There was nothing aggressive. They just moved quite a big crowd around and dispersed them out into the neighbourhood.”
Host Tristian Wilson, 17, said his mother was punched in the face by an unwanted guest.
“Suppposed to be a normal party, invited a good amount of people, 100, 150. It was going great, it was going fantastic and then, I don't know, some randoms, random people got invited and it just kind of got out of hand,” he said.
A 15-year-old girl was among several people arrested. She was granted bail on Saturday on charges of disorderly behaviour and assaulting a police officer.
The crowd made it home before midnight with no serious injuries reported.
Halloween parties in Sydney and Melbourne also spiralled out of control on Friday night.
