Uber driver caught drink driving in Sydney

Taxi firm Uber has removed one of its Sydney drivers amid reports they were caught drink driving yesterday.

Nine.com.au understands a driver was breath tested on the Gore Hill Freeway on the city's north shore yesterday evening and returned a positive result.

It is believed passengers were in the car at the time.

A spokesman for Uber told nine.com.au: "The safety of our riders and drive-partners is a top priority. As soon as we were made aware of this incident, we removed the partner from the platform [vehicle]."

The spokesman added that it was company policy to dismiss any driver who used drugs or alcohol while driving.

NSW Police has begun investigating the incident after being contacted by nine.com.au.
