South-east Queensland is preparing for a wild week of storms, with some areas expected to receive more than two months’ worth of rain by the weekend.
Today weather presenter Carla Tooma said on Tuesday the Sunshine Coast was forecast to receive the heaviest drenching in coming days after 110mm fell there in just eight hours on Monday.

“The Sunshine Coast could cop up to 250mm over the next week, while Brisbane is forecast to receive up to 145mm ... the Gold Coast, could see up to 160mm.”
“Thursday is predicted to be the wettest day of the week. The bureau is also warning of an increased risk of flash flooding, particularly around the Logan and Albert rivers, as this rain continues to fall.”
The Bureau of Meteorology warned river levels have gradually filled up after several months of dry weather.
When the landscape is wet and the rivers are flowing, extra rain can quickly lead to flooding.
A large part of central southern inland Queensland already received heavy rain this week.
Severe thunderstorms with heavy rain are possible later on Tuesday for those areas, particularly around the Maranoa and Warrego district and Charleville, the bureau warns.
No warnings have yet been issued for Queensland, but residents are urged to keep an eye on the bureau website for updates, with concerns around road safety and flash flooding.
Queenslanders last week were urged to prepare their emergency kits with the severe storm season kicking off.
