A young man has died in a house fire in Sydney's west early this morning.

Pakistani national Haider Ali, 21, was killed in the fire which engulfed one bedroom of a sharehouse on Rowley Road in Guildford this morning.

Fire crews rushed to the scene at 5am and contained the fire to one bedroom, however, Ali was unable to escape.

Just before 5am, emergency services were called to the share house on Rowley Road, Guildford.

Five people who were also in the home at the time were able to evacuate the home.

Ali was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

He emigrated from Pakistan to Australia 18 months ago.

Fire authorities are investigating whether a lithium-ion battery from an e-bike may have caused the fire.

"This morning's fire involving a lithium-ion battery is a tragedy," FRNSW Assistant Commissioner Michael Morris said.

"It is a concern for us that with the increasing number of lithium-ion battery fires that we will see increasing fatalities."

Ali worked as a food delivery driver and rode his e-bike to do his job.

9News understands the property was a sharehouse full of young migrants.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
