Woman dies after alleged assault

A woman has died after being assaulted in NSW's northwest.

The 38-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by her partner on December 23.

She was taken to Bourke Hospital before being transferred to Dubbo Base Hospital with a broken right leg.

The woman died on December 27.

Police wouldn't provide any more details of her injuries and are awaiting results from a post mortem examination.

A 44-year-old man was arrested and charged for causing grievous bodily harm.

After an initial court appearance on December 24, he was refused bail and will appear before court on January 5.
