Sydney terror suspects lose bid to avoid having feet photographed

Police have won a court bid to have the feet of two terror suspects photographed.

Iraqi refugee Omar Al-Kutobi, 25, and Mohammad Kiad, 26, a student from Kuwait, were arrested in a raid at their western Sydney home last year, the ABC reports.

They are accused of planning a terrorist attack after police discovered a hunting knife, machete, homemade Islamic State flag and a video in which a man talks about carrying out an attack.

The raid on the Fairfield home also uncovered a phone connected to one of the men that contains a photo of feet next to an Islamic State flag.

The crown has now won its bid, in Sydney's Central Local Court, to have the men's feet photographed so they can be compared either by a jury or a podiatrist.

The suspects lawyer fought the application but the crown argued there was nothing to exclude it from making a better case and that a comparison could even clear the men.
