Sydney police officer charged with assault

A Sydney police officer has been charged with assault after allegedly getting into a fight with security when he was asked to leave a pub.

The 32-year-old officer from the South West Metropolitan Region will face court in May after the incident at Wollongong last December.

It is alleged he refused to leave a licensed premises in the early hours one Sunday morning and was involved in a physical altercation with security personnel.
