Second person charged after alleged kidnapping in south-west Sydney

A second person has been charged over the alleged kidnappingof a Sydney tobacco store owner, leading to a covert police operation to save him.

The 53-year-old man was snatched by four people from outside his shop on Meadows Road in Mount Pritchard just after 6am on February 24, with CCTV footage showing him being bundled into a Hyundai hatchback.

The victim is seen trying to fight the men off, but wasn't able to do so.

He was taken to a house in Dural in Sydney's north-west, where police were able to save him after staging an early morning operation.

The 53-year-old man was taken to hospital in a stable condition and wasn't seriously injured.

At the house in Dural, a teenager was arrested and charged. He remains before the courts.

At about 1.40pm yesterday, a 20-year-old man was arrested in Penrith and taken to Mount Druitt Police Station.

Police allege he was one of the four people who participated in the kidnapping.

He was charged with multiple offences, including take and detain in company with intent to ransom, occasioning actual bodily harm, and breach of bail.

The man was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today.

The other two people who were seen on CCTV snatching the man in the street still have not been found.
