Experience
Patrick began his journalism career in the sports world, having several stints at The Sporting News, where he covered the 2022 FIFA World Cup and helped cover every minute of the Matildas magical run at the 2023 Women’s World Cup. He specialised in football, but also covered Australian sport, including rugby league, rugby union, and Aussie rules. He also spent three seasons with the Western Sydney Wanderers.
In 2024, he joined Optus Sport, but made the jump to news media in July 2025, joining nine.com.au as an Associate News Producer.
During his time at Nine, he has helped cover the Bondi Terror Attack and its aftermath, as well as the war in the Middle East.
Education
Patrick spent just over a year at Macquarie University before moving to the University of Technology in Sydney to study a Bachelor of Communications majoring in journalism. He was involved in the student-led website Central News, and was one of 13 journalism students to take part in the Foreign Correspondent Study Tour, travelling to Thailand to document the lives and challenges facing Burmese refugees fleeing from war. He graduated in 2025.
In 2023, he also spent a semester on exchange, studying abroad at the University of Mannheim in Germany.
