Fire destroys home in Sydney's south-west

Firefighters have spent the night battling a blaze which engulfed a home in Sydney’s south-west.

Fire crews and police were called to the Hoxton Park Road house in Cartwright at about 1.25am, after receiving dozens of calls from neighbours.

Smoke was seen billowing out of the roof, which collapsed from the blaze.

The fire has now been extinguished.

No one was inside at the time, but one person from next door has been treated for smoke inhalation, police say.

Police are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
