Sleeping man caught with loaded gun in NSW

A man found asleep on a Newcastle porch has allegedly been sprung with a loaded revolver and a bevy of drug paraphernalia.

Police searched the 25-year-old and his bag after received reports of a suspicious man at the Beaumont Street residence in Hamilton South.

He was allegedly caught with a loaded revolver firearm, ammunition and almost 12 grams of a white crystal substance believed to be illicit drugs.

The man was refused bail to appear at the Newcastle Local Court.
