Missing boy William Tyrell.

About 70 police and volunteers are continuing the search for missing NSW boy William Tyrell in dense scrub on the state's mid north coast.

Today's efforts will focus on Middle Brother, an area dominated by state forest south of Kendall, the town where William was last seen playing in his grandmother's front yard on the morning of September 12.

Despite eight days of extensive searches of surrounding bushland, door knocking of local residents and bolstered police resources, there has been no trace of the three-year-old.

Police don't believe William, who went missing in a bright red and blue Spider-Man suit, could survive after seven days in the bush.

Investigators are looking at "human intervention" as one possible reason behind William's disappearance.

Cars travelling along some roads in the area are being stopped by police.

William's family on Saturday afternoon released a statement thanking those involved in the search and expressing their hope that the little boy would soon be found.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The family also asked for anyone with information, not matter how insignificant, to contact authorities.

"We pray and hope that our 'Firefighter William' comes home soon."
