Police officer assaulted in Sydney
A police officer has been assaulted while searching a Sydney property for a wanted man.
A man and woman have both been charged over the incident in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police went to the Belar Avenue property in Villawood after a call about a possible domestic incident and after speaking to a woman learned a wanted man may have been inside.
"Police located a man in a rear bedroom of the property; upon sighting the officers the man allegedly began to behave in an aggressive manner," police said.
The man had to be subdued with capsicum spray and a taser after allegedly assaulting an officer.
The 27-year-old man was charged with assaulting police, resisting arrest and malicious damage.
A 35-year-old woman, who allegedly interfered and hindered police, was charged with resisting arrest.
The man was expected to face Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday while the woman will face Bankstown Local Court next month.
