NSW top cop Scipione to bow out after 2017

NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione won't seek to have his contract as the state's top cop renewed after 2017.
Mr Scipione, who joined NSW Police in 1980 and has served as commissioner for nine years, said there were plenty of strong potential successors within the force.
"I said at the time that it was announced that I was re-engaging for one more contract and that contract finishes next year. It is my intention to not seek to have that renewed," he said on Wednesday.
