A young man is recovering in Wollongong Hospital after he was allegedly bashed by four men as he left a local pub.

Jackson Crinis, 24, had been drinking at the Corrimal Hotel on Monday night and was allegedly attacked by a group of men when he was walking home in the early hours of Australia Day, according to the Illawarra Mercury.

He was taken to Wollongong Hospital with multiple injuries including a dislocated shoulder and broken nose.

Local police confirmed the alleged attack but said they don't have any suspects at this stage.

"Police are doing a canvas in the area and we're reviewing all CCTV footage that might shed some light on the incident," Acting Inspector Dan Richardson of the Wollongong Police told AAP.

"Investigations are continuing and we're encouraging anyone who knows anything to give Crime Stoppers a call," he said.
