Search ramps up for prisoners who escaped NSW jail two days ago

Police are urging the community not to approach two men who remain on the run after escaping from a minimum-security prison in New South Wales' west on Saturday.

Geoffrey Fieldsend, 30, and Richard Reginald Pretty, 29, were last seen at a correctional centre in Ivanhoe about 6pm, police said in a statement.

It is believed the pair may be travelling in a stolen vehicle similar to a Triton twin-cab, two-tone utility, with NSW registration plates “AQ46QL”.

The car has a black-coloured upper-half; and a silver-coloured lower-half, and was last sighted on Trida Road, Ivanhoe.

Police believe the pair may be heading towards the Cobar area.

Police have warned anyone who sees the men not to approach them but to instead phone Triple Zero (000).  

Both men are described as Caucasian and about 180cm tall with short, light hair.

They were both last seen wearing prison greens.
