Man charged over alleged random stabbing in Sydney home invasion
A man has been hit with a raft of offences and a 61-year-old is facing multiple surgeries after an alleged random armed home invasion in Sydney’s inner-west.
At about 1.20am on Friday, emergency crews were called to a unit block, near Harnett Avenue in Marrickville, after reports of a stabbing.

When police arrived, they found a man, 61, who had allegedly been stabbed several times in the torso by another man.
CCTV captured the suspect, 34, running from the scene, before a massive manhunt ended with Riot Squad officers finding him just 200 metres away from the Marrickville home hours later.
Detective Inspector Ben Kenness called the incident “really terrifying”.
“That victim was going about his own business in his own home.
“It is quite a confronting scene,” Kenness said.

The 34-year-old was taken to Newtown Police Station and later charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, aggravated break and enter, carrying a knife in public, and drug possession.
The man was refused bail and will front court on Saturday.
The victim remains in a stable condition in hospital, but is facing multiple rounds of surgery.
