A man has been extradited from Poland and charged with murder three years after the discovery of a body inside a cabinet on NSW’s Mid-North Coast.

The suspect, 26-year-old Jan Kwazc, touched down at Sydney International Airport on Friday alongside homicide squad detectives following an investigation assisted by Polish authorities.

He was taken directly to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with the murder of Darcy Schafer-Turner, a 22-year-old whose life was allegedly taken over a drug debt in April 2023.

Schafer-Turner was lured to a Peakhurst apartment by school friend Zachary Richard Fraser, who believed he owed the other man $50,000.

That is when the 22-year-old was gagged and stopped breathing.

A Queensland father was then paid $20,000 to fly to Sydney and mop up the crime scene.

Darcy Schafer-Turner died after he was put in a chokehold, tied up with duct tape and held down by two men in a Sydney apartment on April 27, 2023.

He stuffed the body into a metal cabinet, before driving five hours north and dumping it in a creek at Macksville.

The man, Charles Dennis Turnbull, is now serving time behind bars, while Fraser is in prison for manslaughter.

Kwacz was due before court today but did not appear. His lawyer told the judge he won’t be seeking bail.
