Armed man shot by police at Sydney home, critical incident declared
A 21-year-old man has been shot by police in Sydney’s south-west after allegedly pointing a pistol at officers.
Police say the man called Triple Zero and allegedly made threats while driving towards a home on Strathmore Place in Glen Alpine.
Officers were called to the same address and arrived before him.

When the man pulled up, he allegedly pointed a pistol at police before an officer fired a single shot, hitting him in the abdomen.
Officers gave the man CPR on the front lawn before he was rushed to Liverpool Hospital.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Assistant Commissioner Stacey Maloney said officers prevented the situation from becoming even more serious.
“Potentially, police arrived and saved this individual’s life,” she said.
“Given the fact that he did have a firearm, the woman was taken to hospital because we believe that she was in a state of shock.”
Police said there had been no previous domestic violence reports at the address.
A crime scene has been established, and the actions of the officer who fired the shot will now be examined as part of a critical incident investigation.
