Elderly man hit, dragged by car in Sydney

An elderly man has been left in an induced coma after he was hit by a car and dragged along a road in Sydney's northern beaches.

The man, believed to be in his 70s, was at Beacon Hill when he was struck shortly after 9am on Friday, a CareFlight spokesman says.

He was treated for head injuries and placed in an induced coma before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
