Sydney remains Australia's most popular capital city for tourists, with Chinese visitors contributing a third of the state's tourism revenue.

International tourists contributed almost $10 billion to the NSW economy in the past 12 months, up 10 per cent on the previous year, according to NSW government data.

China continues to lead the state's tourism growth, buoyed by other Asian countries including Japan, Korea and Indonesia.
