A 32-year-old man has been charged with murder after his alleged partner was found dead in Sydney's south-west.

Emergency services were called to a unit complex in Richmond Avenue, Auburn just after 7.30pm yesterday, following reports of a domestic-related incident.

Paramedics found a man, believed to be aged in his 50s, with head injuries.

He was treated but died at the scene.

Tearful neighbours said the man in his 50s was "the sweetest person" and told 9News they were "very sad".

Police officers from Auburn arrested a 32-year-old man, identified as Rory Schade, soon after on nearby South Parade.

He was taken to Auburn police station where he was charged with murder.

Officers said the men knew each other.

9News understands the pair were in a relationship.

The magistrate also heard that he had warrants out for his arrest for failing to appear in court on previous occasions.
