US Senator’s phone rings during finance hearing, reveals embarrassing ringtone

A US Senator’s embarrassment after his phone rang during a finance hearing has been compounded by his choice of song – “Let It Go” from Disney’s Frozen.

Senator Pat Roberts, 78, was listening to testimony from Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack at a Senate Finance Committee meeting when his microphone picked up the familiar strains by singer Idina Menzel.

“Ah, come on,” a flustered Mr Roberts muttered to giggles from those in the room.

The Republican Senator from Kansas took the moment in his stride, urging Mr Vilsack to “just let it go” before letting him continue.

Mr Roberts claimed the ringtone was his grandkids’ choice and even managed a dig at President Barack Obama in brushing off the gaffe. 

Mr Roberts’ communications director later claimed he alternates his ringtone daily from “Let It Go” to the Johnny Cash classic “I Walk The Line”.
