US cops buy winter clothes for young family after hotel theft

A young family has received a heart-warming gesture from two US police officers, after their winter clothes were callously stolen from a New Jersey hotel.

A Massachusetts mother had put much-needed clothes and winter gear for her four children and herself into the dryers at the public laundry of the Westampton hotel where the family was staying, only to return later and find the lot had been stolen.

Responding police Officer Woods and Sergeant Brewer decided to help the family by taking them shopping at a local Target to replace the clothes – out of their own pockets.

“She was ecstatic about it. She was overwhelmingly happy, and grateful for us coming to her need and helping her in this incident,” Sgt. Brewer told NJ.com.
