Today in History - November 25 | Gang grabs $200 million worth of diamonds in just a few minutes
One of the world's most spectacular jewellery robberies took place on November 25, 2019, when a gang broke into a German museum and grabbed 21 pieces containing more than 4300 diamonds .
Authorities were stunned at the ease by which the five men stole the 18th-century jewellery, worth $US129 million ($197 million) from the Dresden Green Vault Museum.
German police said the gang meticulously planned the robbery. It began when they set fire to a power distribution box near the museum. This caused the streetlights nearby to go out, plunging the whole area into darkness.
