Workers flee as avalanche roars downhill

French workers who were clearing snow from a road have been forced to flee after finding themselves in the path of an avalanche.

Video posted online by witness Baptiste Chassang captures the worker's amused reaction to the site of falling snow in a distant mountaintop near Tignes, a group of villages in the French Alps.

Within a matter of moments however a wall of snow can be seen tumbling down the hillside towards them, forcing Mr Chassang and workers who had been clearing snow from a road to flee.

Mr Chassang can be heard still laughing as the snow reaches the road, undoing all of the worker's clearing efforts.

The video has since been viewed 126,000 times.

No one was injured, the ABC reports.
