The Duchess of Cambridge has shown off a new hairstyle on her first day back on royal duties after giving birth to Princess Charlotte.

The 33-year-old was at the Anna Freud Centre in North London, a facility that treats young people with mental health issues and works on new forms of treatment.

Kate sported her new fringe for the appearance, and sported a $2700 Ralph Lauren shirtdress while looking tanned and relaxed, the Daily Mail reports.

At the centre Kate participated in a range of activities, including interactive learning machines and helping youths with communication and self-confidence.

"The Duchess wants to play a part in the open discussion around the emotional and mental wellbeing of children," a royal spokesman said.

"Building on her work over the last 18 months, she will continue to champion the valuable work that many charities and organisations are carrying out in this field."

It was Kate's first solo appearance since she gave birth to her second child Charlotte, younger sister of George, four months ago on May 2.
