Nonchalant thief on hoverboard cruises out of supermarket with loot

A thief has been captured on CCTV casually riding into a London supermarket on a hoverboard and cruising away with a haul of energy drinks.

Metropolitan Police have released security vision of the September 6 incident, which depicts a man in a grey tracksuit and hoodie rolling into a shop in Mitcham, in the capital’s south.  

The man grabbed a carton of Lucozade, a popular British energy drink, and calmly rolled towards the exit.

At one point he executed a smooth reversing manoeuvre, before he made a low-speed getaway – all with blue lights flashing underneath the board.

Two men followed the man from the store but police did not say whether they are believed to be accomplices.

The self-balancing two-wheeled scooters have been deemed unsafe and illegal for use on British footpaths and roads, but their popularity has nonetheless soared in recent months.
