The Biden family: The kids and grandkids supporting the president

When Joe Biden walked into the White House after his inauguration, he was joined by many of his close family members.

Mr Biden has long presented himself as a family man, and is famously close with his wife, children and grandchildren.

So who's who in the Biden family?

Jill Biden

First Lady Jill Biden will be the first First Lady to keep her day job, intending on staying on as an English professor at Northern Virginia Community College.

She is also the first First Lady with a doctorate, receiving a Doctor of Education in 2007.

"Teaching isn't just what I do, it's who I am," she has said.

Dr Biden married Mr Biden in 1977, two years after they met.

Mr Biden had been widowed in 1972 when his first wife was killed in a car accident.

Beau Biden

Joe Biden's late son Beau died of incurable brain cancer in 2015 as a 46-year-old.

The former attorney-general of Delaware, Beau was considered a rising star in the Democratic Party.

He served in the military for 12 years, reaching the rank of Major and doing a tour of duty in Iraq.

He left behind a wife and two children.

Hunter Biden

The son of Mr Biden's late first wife, 50-year-old Hunter has been a banker, hedge fund investor and lobbyist.

During the campaign he became the focus of corruption allegations from Donald Trump, but there was no evidence of wrongdoing.

Last month he announced he was under federal criminal investigation, but he has not been charged.

He was discharged from the Naval reserve after testing positive for cocaine use in 2013.

He has three children from his first wife, Naomi, Finnegan and Maisy.

After the death of his brother Beau, Hunter briefly dated his widow Hallie.

He fathered a child out of wedlock to Arkansas woman Lunden Alexis Roberts in 2018.

In 2019 he married South African filmmaker Melissa Cohen, with a son born in 2020.

Ashley Biden

Ashley Biden, 39, is the only daughter of Joe and Jill.

She works as a social worker and a social justice activist.

Ms Biden also launched her own ethical fashion brand called the Livelihood Collection in 2017.

In 2012, she married Howard Krein, a head and neck surgeon.

The grandkids

Hunter's daughter Naomi, 26, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 alongside Tiffany Trump.

She then got a law degree from Columbia Law School.

One of her grandfather's most vocal supporters on Twitter, her feed is one that manages to be both wry and heartfelt.

Naomi's sister Finnegan, 21, is studying at the University of Pennsylvania.

Naomi and Finnegan's sister Maisy, 20, was a classmate and close friend of Sasha Obama.

A noted athlete, Maisy was the star player of the primary school basketball team coached by then-President Barack Obama.

Natalie, 16, and Robert, 14, are the teenage children of Beau and Hallie Biden.

Hunter Biden's baby son is named Beau, in honour of his late uncle.

Neilia and Naomi Biden

Weeks after Joe Biden was first elected to the Senate in 1972, a car accident killed his wife and baby daughter.

Neilia Biden was a teacher who had been described as the "brains" of Mr Biden's campaign. She was 30.

Their baby Naomi "Amy" Biden was also killed in the crash.

Sons Beau and Hunter were both seriously injured.
