Hero volunteer firefighter saves girl who falls from bus

A quick-thinking volunteer firefighter has saved a little girl’s life after she fell out of the back of a bus in the US.

Ryan Ciampoli was driving down a highway in Arkansas when he saw the back doors of a bus suddenly open and the tiny child fall out.

Distressing dashcam footage of the incident shows the four-year-old girl lying in the middle of the highway.

Mr Ciampoli can be seen springing into action, stopping his car and rushing to pick the girl up and carry her off the road.

“Obviously you want to leave her there, if she’s not in danger, but obviously we’re in the middle of a state highway, so I couldn’t leave her just laying there,” the firefighter told TV station WKRG.

The girl was laid on a truck bed as Mr Ciampoli monitored her vital signs and worked to keep her conscious.

“The shock kicked in in her little body and she started kicking and screaming and “where’s my mommy?” and things like that, stuff like that is really heartbreaking,” he said.

The girl suffered a broken jaw in the accident and will need surgery but is expected to make a full recovery.
