Family of Australian brothers killed in Mexico make emotional statement as verdict looms
The family of two Australian brothers murdered in Mexico have given an emotional statement outside court as the trial draws to a close.
Debra and Martin Robinson spoke in Ensenada on Thursday, thanking the public for the outpouring of support they have received after their sons Jake and Callum were killed in April 2024.

The Perth brothers and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad were shot dead in a suspected robbery gone wrong in in Mexico’s Baja region.
Three men, including Jesus “El Kekas” Giraldo, are on trial for their murder.
A judge confirmed closing arguments would take place on Thursday, October 8 before a verdict is handed down on Friday, October 9.
Speaking outside court, Debra became emotional as she addressed the media.

“We are deeply grateful for all of the support and kindness we have received since we have been here,” she said.
“To everyone back in Australia and around the world, we feel your love and your arms around us.”
The Robinsons travelled to Mexico to witness the trial and will return to Australia next Friday. The trial judge accepted the family’s request to move the verdict forward to 10am so they could see it in person.
The Robinson brothers and their friend were on a surf trip when they were shot dead in a spur of the moment robbery attempt that turned violent.
During the trial, the girlfriend of one of the accused told the court that a gang of men tried to steal the tyres off a car driven by the group, but they were met with resistance.
However, testimony from witnesses during the trial has revealed the robbery may have been planned.
The three bodies were discovered 10 metres down a well.
Last November, Ari Gisell Garcia Cota, 23, was jailed for 20 years over his role in the deaths. Giraldo, the alleged ringleader, could face 378 years in prison if he is found guilty.
His alleged co-conspirators could face 210 years behind bars if found guilty.
