Elderly man knocked unconscious on US street allegedly during teen 'knockout' game
A teenager has been charged and another is on the run after an elderly man was knocked unconscious on a New Jersey street, allegedly as part of a game.
Video from a mobile phone uploaded to Facebook last week shows a 17-year-old male talking to a man on a Paterson street corner in broad daylight.
A 16-year-old male filming can be heard saying, ‘Knock him out! Knock him out!’, seconds before the man standing on the corner is hit once in the face and falls to the ground.
He appears to be unconscious and the teen behind the camera then laughs.
The 16-year-old has been charged with aggravated assault, however the teen who allegedly threw the punch remains on the run, ABC in the US reported.
Paterson Police Department director Jerry Speziale released a video statement after the footage began to circulate on social media.
“We will take swift and decisive action as we will not tolerate that type of action or behaviour in our city.”
