Elderly couples steal from churches 'for thrills'
An elderly couple from Switzerland has been caught allegedly stealing money from church collection boxes because they were bored.
The married couple, aged 70 and 73, had been swindling churches in Lucerne since last November, taking hundreds of Swiss francs, local prosecutors say.
The husband kept watch outside while the wife would go in and steal from the boxes, according to the Swiss daily newspaper Le Matin.
The couple reportedly is quite well off but performed the robberies for the adrenaline rush it gave them and the "pleasure of the forbidden".
Switzerland is the fifth richest country in the world with a Gross Domestic Product per capita of almost $85,000, according to the World Bank.
