Eight-year-old boy attempts to rob Florida convenience store with gun

An eight-year-old boy was arrested after walking into a Florida convenience store with a gun in an attempted hold up.

The young boy wearing a motorbike helmet and rag to cover his face and was caught on CCTV walking up to the counter and pointing a hidden weapon at a worker behind the counter.

WPTV reported that according to one employee, the boy pointed the gun and said, "Give me the money”.

The cashier and another employee quickly jumped into action - twisting the boy robber’s wrist and grabbing the gun.

"All of a sudden I'm so shocked. I don't know if it's a real gun or if it's a fake gun, but my priority is to take it away from him because I don't know,” the worker said.

The boy was charged with attempted armed robbery with a firearm and aggravated assault.

The state has decided not to press charges, with the boy ordered to take a diversion program and stay away from the store.
