Demolition crew makes fast work of Danish radio towers

If you have ever wondered if a radar tower makes a sound when it falls in the woods the answer is yes, particularly when detonators are involved.

A demolition team has made quick work of toppling a number of old radar towers in Denmark after setting off a series of controlled charges.

With a gruff shout to warn his co-workers to stay clear, the team leave it all up to the detonators.

After a shock of earth sails into the air, the metal towers tilt slightly towards its neighbouring forest trees before silently rushing towards the ground.

The solid boom of metal hitting dirt is the only whole thing left of the towers as the dust clears.

Despite its violent end, the sight of the towers being felled is oddly mesmerising amid the beauty of the lush woods.

Footage of the towers’ destruction was posted to LiveLeak today. It did not reveal the exact location of the demolition or when they occurred. The video has been viewed more than 6000 times.   

Radar towers are usually used to support a radar facility, such as an airport or a military air base.
